This very rare lacquered horse saddle is beautifully carved and richly decorated with mythic beasts, swirling cloud motifs, and protective emblems rendered in red, gold, and green pigment. On the pommel and cantle, two lively mythical beasts—likely fu lions and dragons flank a central medallion a classic meander, symbolizing strength and auspicious power. The side panels are exceptionally elaborate and feature stylized mythical dragons, layered floral scrollwork and roundels framed by intricate geometric borders. Gold script along the upper edge adds an intellectually engaging touch, perhaps identifying the owner or invoking blessings. The fine lacquerwork and symbolic imagery reflect the elite status and refined taste of the rider.
